But even games like Mario Kart and Brawl are becoming casual, I think.
They were always kinda casual, actually. I mean, you don't have to be an intense hardcore gamer to enjoy some Mario Kart. But the steering wheel thing is so gimmicky that it appeals to everyone.

This thread made me think of Cool Spot.

For those of you too young to know... he used to be 7up's mascot.

Or Yo Noid!

The Noid used to be Domino's mascot. (That is... until he caused an armed hostage situation at a dominoes restaraunt.)

that's true which is why i didnt like MKWii, but now that I have started using the GC controller, i have found that it isn't too bad...

Brawl, I don't see haw it is anymore less core than melee, sure there are more ways you can play, but none of the ways involves a handicap that was not already in place in melee. The contols for Brawl are exactly the same, and I have found that the level 9s are a little (not so bad now) stronger than in the last, and that although you can pick up and play for a few minutes then quit... you could do that in melee as well. So nothing personal Yoshi but i don't think that Smash bros has gotten more casual, and people may just be lumping it into a group of hardcore games that have gone casual.

Or in the same logic that these people are using you could say that all the smash bros games are casual for the fact that you dont need to play it for hours on end to feel a reward.
